Experimental Evaluation of Hoop Stress–Strain State of 3D-Printed Pipe Ring Tensile Specimens

Data on the strain and stress status of pipe in circumferential direction are required for various manufacturing procedures (e.g., oil business, process seamless pipes with a conical shaft). The aim this study is to develop procedure determine behavior Pipe Ring Tensile Specimens (PRTSs) hoop direction, as there lack official standardized methods testing PRTS. This paper discusses application Digital Image Correlation method plastic PRTSs. PRTSs tested using specially designed steel tool two D blocks. A 3D-printed PRTS placed over D-shaped mandrels, which fixed tensile machine. evolution gage length specimens captured three-dimensional (3D DIC) method. To check geometry cross-section after fracture, all 3D scanned. For study, six groups analyzed, consisting three filling percentages (60, 90, 100%) types (Single Double PRTS). results show that type percentage filling, well printing, affect material behavior. However, approach DIC system, printer, scanner shows they effective instruments mapping complete fields PRTS, thus characterizing mechanical properties pipes.
